Calm Amidst Chaos

“Calm Amidst Chaos ” expresses the resilience we need towards the ups and downs of life and difficult circumstances and choices we have to make. The colour gradient brings balance and harmony, but also dynamism and energy to the emotions of the viewer. 

The centre of the painting is created using acrylic paint with blue gradient shades from light blue to deep Prussian blue. The calmness of these colours reflect the deep ocean and the depth of our emotions as humans. This centre calm is juxtaposed by the chaos and flow of the fluid art around it, representing the chaos that can sometimes occur in our lives. The fluid art created abstract koi fish dancing and flowing with the chaotic tides of the water. I used pouring medium, gel medium and water to achieve the fluidity of the acrylic paint, and used a blow dryer to blow the paint out from the centre outwards.  To avoid any fluid paint from getting to the centre, I used tape and plastic to protect the centre piece while I did this,. Once the fluid paint dried, I cut off the plastic and peeled off the tape to reveal the entire artwork.

The Koi Fish Harmony collection highlights the symbolism of Koi in Japanese philosophy and color harmony that has deep meaning and significance. Using color theory as the basis for my palettes, acrylic gloss gel, thickening paste, and flow mediums, she creates a juxtaposition of excitement and calmness in these artworks. They signify the importance of balance amidst the trials and tribulations in everyday life.
